Welcome New Board Members

We are pleased to welcome Cynthia Kienlen and John Plough to the TACR Board of Directors. We are grateful for their willingness to take on the work and responsibilities that help move us closer to our strategic vision.

From Cynthia:
I moved to Traverse City from the Chicago area 3 years ago to be closer to my daughter and 2 grandchildren. Two married sons live back in Chicago with 5 additional grandchildren. My background as an RN with a Masters in Nursing Education has given me diverse work experiences from university settings to 8 years working in corrections.

I started rowing 3 years ago. The coaching at TACR is superior to anything I have experienced anywhere else.

My other interests include golf, bicycling, kayaking, paddle boarding, hiking, snowshoeing and downhill skiing–all of which are easily completed without leaving my home for more than one day. The vitality and energy oozes from Traverse City wherever you look!

From John:
I moved to Traverse City 2 years ago, although I had a connection to town all of my life. I used to work as a K-12 arts educator on the east coast and now work in the Extended Education Department at NMC. I’m a creative storyteller and get excited about building community.

I played and coached college basketball and continue to love sports. I spend free time swimming, listening to audio books and playing with my 2 chocolate labs (Beans and Pajamas). Occasionally, I audition for plays. This year I’m determined to learn woodworking.
